Man, I remember the first time I heard this song, sitting in my flat in Kew with Whit and Lauren, and this came on at the end of some show, and I just melted into the couch.
So amazing, this song.
I hope this does not sound condescending because despite some complaints to the contrary, it is not my intent to be so, pretty much ever.
Anyway.
I am terribly glad that I like to cook. I can’t imagine what it’s like to hate it. That would just seem to make everything harder.

Phil and I were kind of discussing this the other day. Actually we were discussing people who don’t enjoy food, like his one friend. Their lives must be empty husks.
I, on the other hand, have a Julia Child-esque adoration of cooking and eating. $70 on dinner for two for no special reason? Why, yes, I will waste my hard earned money.
Right now, cooking and eating delicious food that I cooked is pretty much the most consistently meaningful thing I do. I love knowing that my med student roommate will get home to something delicious, nutritious, and made from ingredients.
I feel like I’m helping to save the world when I cook.

Oh, I understand, you need to get back to using a stein on an alien world where you landed in your escape pod and now have to fend for yourself in the wilderness. Where’d you get the stein, man?
